How It All Began

Sapphire-savanna started in 2012 when two friends realised that the best travel experiences came not from famous landmarks, but from the unexpected discoveries along the way—the roadside cafe with exceptional scones, the viewpoint unmarked on any map, the village pub where locals shared stories of the land.

Frustrated by generic travel guides that sent everyone to the same crowded spots, we began documenting our own journeys across Britain. Notes scribbled in pubs, photographs of secret paths, GPS coordinates of that perfect wild camping spot. Friends started asking for copies, then friends of friends.

What began as shared notebooks evolved into carefully researched route packages. Each one represents not just directions, but a philosophy: travel should be about discovery, not just destinations.

Our Approach

Every route we offer has been personally driven, walked, and experienced multiple times across different seasons. We do not rely on second-hand information or algorithmic recommendations. When we suggest a place to stop, it is because we have stopped there ourselves and found something worth sharing.

We update our routes annually, revisiting each one to check for changes—road closures, new establishments, altered landscapes. Tourism evolves, and so do our guides. A pub that served excellent local ale last year might have changed hands; a formerly quiet beach might have become overcrowded. We keep our information current so your experience matches our promise.

  • Every route personally verified within the past 12 months
  • Seasonal variations documented and included
  • Local partnerships with accommodations and eateries
  • Community feedback integrated into route updates
